Evaluation Plan
Evaluation Plan
1. Evaluation of Learning
The formative and the summative evaluation plan for learning are highlighted in below. The table presented below will indicate how each of the tasks/questions relates to each of the learning objectives identified. In terms of grading, as stated in assignment one, 20% of the final grade is allocated for this planned instruction
Formative Evaluation of Learning
The formative evaluation of learning objectives is carried out through a student group project. The table presented below will highlight the learning objectives that the project will consider for evaluation. Appendix 01 will present the actual project briefing given to students. Each task assigned in the project will relate to a given learning objective.
10% of the final grade is allocated for this evaluation format. (From the total 20%)
Summative Evaluation of Learning
The summative evaluation of the learning objectives will be in the form of a written examination. The table below will highlight which sections of the learning objectives will be tested in the summative evaluation. The suggested examination paper is attached to appendix 02 of this report.
The balance 10% of the grade will be allocated for this purpose. (From the total 20%)

Rationale for the Selected Evaluation Formats for Each of the Learning Outcomes
Formative Evaluation of Learning – Student Project
The student project was developed to allow the learners to apply some of the skills learnt to a real life stimulated business case. These skills are essentially psychomotor and getting them to do a project by creating a networking site would allow them to really understand how the application tools will be used for the promotion of business ideas. Also it will make them familiar with one of the social networking media and its applications. Students by presenting the report along with screen shots will demonstrate their ability to develop this. With the presentation component, other students will get exposed to how the rest have applied the tools and it will create a good learning environment. The reason why this is presented as a formative evaluation of learning is that it would allow the instructor to give immediate feedback about their understanding of the concepts and the tools that were discussed.
Summative Evaluation of Learning – Paper Based Exam.
The rationale for the question format choices that was used in this paper based exam is presented below.
Multiple choice questions were used to test the first and the second learning objective since these objectives were designed to check knowledge and comprehension of the subject content.
As for the third learning objective, an essay was included to allow students to identify different social media formats and suggest their business use. It was also developed to test the basic comprehension levels of the subject matter.
As for the fourth learning objective, students were expected to demonstrate the use of these tools for specific business applications. So in the taxonomy, this was an application question. A mini case study was used to provide an opportunity for them to show their application skills.
As for the rest of the learning objectives, they were developed to test the psychomotor skills. These were initially tested through the formative evaluation but as a summative evaluation getting them to develop a check list to highlight the steps would allow them to demonstrate their learning.
As noted earlier, this is only a section of the final examination paper. The distribution of marks for each of the question was highlighted in the paper itself. (See appendix 02)
2. Evaluation of Instruction
In order to evaluate the instruction, a questionnaire will be given to the students. Appendix 03 of this report will indicate the questionnaire that will be used to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction.
As the reader may note after going through appendix 03, one set of questions were directed at evaluating the effectiveness of the instructor’s delivery. The second set of questions was directed in evaluating the course itself. Students were requested to rate these questions in a scale.
Also students were asked to write their comments in terms of what they would like to continue as well as to change, based on their needs. (More space will be kept in the actual questionnaire that will be given to students).
This information would be valuable for the instructor to get feedback on his delivery and content so that adjustments could be made during the second half. The evaluation format has been developed with the assumption that the information collection and tabulation would be done by a third party on a confidential basis.

Sid and Randy Stevens are bothers. They started a business to manufacture rail ladders fabricated out of metal with several safety features which ordinary ladders in the market did not have. They started this venture two years ago. They were mainly selling to industrial and domestic markets and their business was expanding.
Randy and Sid were interested in promoting their business aggressively but their efforts were curtailed due to the limited budgets that they had. Sid is an avid user of the internet for his personal matters and he suggested the opportunity of using social networking to promote their business to randy. While Randy agreed that this would be a good idea to promote the ladder rail to the domestic markets, he was skeptical of the use of this medium to their industrial segments which contributed to 45% of their earnings.
By choosing a social network of your choice, suggest three application tools that they could use to promote their product both to the domestic and industrial markets.
